PresidentSeason 2010 Introduction LetterLet me firstly welcome you to the new season of local footy and the Heathmont Jets. It is always a long wait from the end of the previous season to the beginning of the new one, but it is now here! Last year was a tough one for the boys on the ground as they battled it out in 3 rd division with a lot of injuries and a few results going against us in the dying minutes in a couple games. Off the ground however, the club went forward again with the Committee working as hard as ever to keep on track of making The Heathmont Jets the best club in the EFL. I would like to thank Gareth Woodcock and his team for all of their work as the match committee last year and we wish Gaz well this year with his new twin boys that will keep him very busy! As Gaz finished up his year as coach a new candidate emerged and it is my pleasure to say that Steven Buckle was appointed the new senior coach of the Jets with support from Jason Fennell and Barny Mitchell as his assistants. Matt Welch and Daniel Raftis have been appointed as the new reserves coaches as well so everything is looking great for a massive assault on 4th division this year. Another departure we had earlier this year was the resignation of Jo Hart-Parker as President of the club. A further massive thanks to Jo for all of her efforts in making Heathmont the club that we all love today. She will be sorely missed from the top job but it’s great to have her on board with the running of the Jetstream club and helping out with the past players side of things. At H.E Parker the council has carried out the proposed improvements with the installation of disabled facilities and the long awaited asphalt car park making it a far more family friendly environment. The juniors once again are running strong with 11 teams being fielded! In Season 2010 they will be hosting 2 sides for Under 9’s, 12’s and 14’s with 10’s, 11’s, 13’s, 15’s and 16’s each holding 1 side. Promising a very strong future for the seniors! 2010 holds endless possibilities for the club. We are back into Division 4 but hopefully only for a short time. The work from the coaches and player group has been fantastic so far during pre season and the boys are all ready fired up for Round 1. This year will be another great year for the club both on and off the field with the committee already working hard to get things in place for the first bounce. The social committee has an awesome calendar set out for the after game celebrations as well as the Jetstream club and Heathmont Honeys all raring to go. We have Jumper Presentation next Thursday, 8th April at 6:30 pm. We invite you to come down to watch the seniors in their last training session before the season kicks off. The bar will be open, and nibbles will be provided while the boys are training, followed by pizza for dinner - a gold coin donation is all that is required. Cameron Browne will be saying a few words on the night and jumpers will be presented to players during team selection. There are 3 special dates to put in your diary; May 22nd Heathmont Honeys Ladies Lunch playing against Forest Hill June 5th Past Players Day playing against The Basin June 26th Presidents Lunch playing against Sth Belgrave We are trying to go ‘green’ wherever possible so please make sure that you check the club website for details throughout the season on any of the happenings around the place. You can also download Registration, Player Sponsor, Sponsorship packages, Jetstream and Honeys forms. It’s kept up to date on a regular basis and is managed brilliantly by Chris Mirtschin, the website guru. Please visit www.heathmontjets.com Sponsorship as always is integral to the success of any club and we take this opportunity to welcome any new potential sponsors who may want to jump on board as a sponsor for the coming season. The club also urges you to utilise our current sponsors’ services which will assist in strengthening our long term relationships. Barry Plant - In your search for accommodation be it purchase, selling or rental, even if outside the Heathmont area. Be sure to advise them of your association with the club, as through your support and with each successful listing the club will benefit. Bendigo Bank - Their aim is to support the Heathmont community which includes the football club and its members. We ask you to support the bank in return. All you need to do is present a letter of introduction from the club [which can also be downloaded from our website] when taking out loans, and opening accounts. Your support will be beneficial to both parties leading to increased sponsorship in the years to come. The club is still in the process of confirming all our sponsorship for the forthcoming year and these will be displayed in the clubrooms and on the website as each contribution is confirmed. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their past and continued support of the club; it is an integral part of the club’s development. For any sponsorship related enquiries please contact sponsorship@heathmontjets.com Round 1 is on the 10th of April against South Belgrave at South Belgrave so if you want to see the boys kick off the year make sure you get up there and show your support. The first home game is against Nunawading on the 17 th of April - make sure you get down to that one too as it’s always great to be back on the turf of H.E Parker, playing to win! I look forward to catching you all down at the club this year to sing the song loud and proud! Bring it on!! Go Jets! Wally Galbraith Heathmont Football Club – President. |
