Match Reports: Round 8 vs Templestowe

SENIORS There was a big crowd gathering down at the Hangar for this match with the club’s 300 members out in force to cheer on the Jets as they try to consolidate their position in the top four. There were also a few new faces in the team this week as the team welcomed Callum Norris from the Under 17’s in for his first senior match, and Sinders also made a welcome return after a few weeks on the sidelines. All the coach wanted this week – apart from a win – was for the Seniors to play four quarters of football, and it was a great start with English getting it out of the centre at the first tap out, finding Oders and a kick into the forward line saw Fin Brown with the ball and a free and a go

Match Reports: Round 7 vs Boronia

SENIORS The Jets welcomed back Gary Conyers, Ben Abbruzzese, Jarrod Spurrell, Robbie Wood and Ben Irvine for the clash against Boronia. The ground was in great condition, there was minimal wind, and no chance of rain for the top four defining game. Both teams fielded a bevy of young talent, so a fast, skillful game was expected. Boronia registered the first major, but the Jets replied quickly through Oders just six minutes into the game. Fresh from his dominant performance last week, Fin Brown was infringed a few minutes later, kicked truly, and the Jets hit the front. Truck drove out of the centre square, before Brent English took a strong mark then fired a 50m missile to Fin who took advan

Match Reports: Round 6 vs Chirnside Park

SENIORS Welcome inclusions to the Senior team for the challenge against Chirnside Park were Wade, Dougie and Knowlesy. The Jets brought great pressure to the task at hand and caused 17 turnovers through the first term, which contributed to our 19 to five inside 50 count. Decler, Pettigrew, Burls and Rourkie all started strongly, as the Jets used quick hands and creative switching across the half back line to create open play. A tricky wind made accurate goal kicking in the earlier games a challenge, and it was no better after 2pm. The score line at quarter time was 3.5 to one behind. Fin Brown opened his account early in the second quarter after a strong mark in the square. Clean ball moveme

Hounds of Heathmont: Season 2018 Episode 3 - Frank & Henry Sherriff

This week's hounds will look familiar to most of us who frequent the Hangar on Saturdays. Long-time fans of the Jets, Frank and Henry Sherriff love nothing more than watching their Dad, veteran Jet Jake Sherriff, wreak havoc on the backline each week. Often puppy-sat by their grandpa, Chris Sherriff, these two loveable larrikins are likely to either kill you with cuteness or lick you to death. Frank (on the left) is an almost 3-year-old Golden lab, while Henry (on the right) is a 2 year old Golden/Caramel mixed lab. The brothers are also best mates and do everything together. Thanks to social media, you can catch their adventures on Instagram: @frankandhenry. When not lounging around taking

Match Reports: Round 5 vs The Basin

SENIORS The long term injury list is growing, with Jordan Haynes now joining the likes of Kev Clarke and Jarrod Spurrell on the sidelines. Joel Merrett was in for his first Senior game this season and we welcomed back Al Pettigrew. Late withdrawals of Gary Conyers and Dave Sindrey brought up Rob Savory and Jon Knudsen to team. The depth of the club is being sorely tested at the moment. It was a fast and furious first half of the quarter by the Jets, with a great passage of play by Colombo to Oders who, from a tight angle on the boundary and on the run, kicked our first goal within the first minute. Another kick out of the centre by English landed in the safe hands of Fin Brown who was waitin

Match Reports: Round 4 vs Waverley Blues

SENIORS Round 4 brought another beautiful afternoon at the Hanger for our clash with Waverley Blues. The Jets welcomed Alex Mcintosh for his first Senior game, Jack McDonald for his first for the season and Ryan Young back from concussion. It was “game on” early when the opposition registered their first goal inside a minute. To increase the challenge for the Jets, Jordan Haynes’ day was over with an ankle injury three minutes into the game, then Matt Declar joined him on the bench two mins later with claret pouring from the nose. Ben Abrruzzese steadied the ship, kicking our first at the eight minute mark after a good lead, and our second two minutes later. It was then Chris Columbo’s turn
