Senior Coaching Vacancy Update
The process for the Club to find and appoint a new coach to succeed Joel Cordwell is well under way with advertisements having been placed on the Club and EFL websites, along with an advertisement in the Division 1 Grand Final edition of the Eastern Footballer. We have also advertised more widely through the AFL Victoria website.
At this stage we have received considerable interest in the position with a number of applications and expressions of interest having been received. The Coaching Selection Panel has also been in contact and met with a number of potential candidates that were identified at the beginning of the process.
The panel will be considering all applications and it is expected that a short-listing of possible candidates will be finalised in the next week or so. Short-listed candidates will then be interviewed with a final decision to be made by mid-October or thereabouts.
It is important for all club members to be aware that the appointment of the coach to succeed Joel is a pivotal one in the club’s recent history and that the Coaching Selection Panel is determined to exercise utmost diligence in ensuring that the most appropriate candidate is selected and offered the position. To this end, the process of selecting our next coach will be carried out thoroughly and diligently and the Panel will not fall into the trap of making a “rushed” decision to simply have the process finalised. Having said that, the Panel is well aware that this is an anxious time for all players, officials and supporters of the Heathmont FC, but it urges all interested parties to have patience with and faith in the process that has been implemented to ensure that we secure a coach who can continue the Club’s recent improvement journey and take the Club to further and greater success over the coming seasons.
