Football News From The Hangar

Senior Mens News

Fantastic news coming out of the hangar! Since the appointment of our new coach, Nick Rutley, Nick and the

Football Department have been busy contacting our current playing list to secure their commitment for Season 2021, as well as identifying and speaking with potential recruits to add further quality and depth to our playing stocks.

So far, we have secured commitment from 35 players from our Senior list of 2020. In addition, we have managed to secure some exciting new talent to the list, despite having to operate within the challenges posed by the dramatic reduction in the salary cap for next year. The Club has been extremely gratified with the response from every player who has been contacted so far. The Club will continue in its quest to contact all listed players from 2020 and to re-sign them for next season, and is confident in securing the remainder of these players in the coming weeks.

Over the next few weeks our new Senior Coach will be posting a series of video updates via our Website and other social media platforms to inform our loyal Club members and supporters of those players who will be back proudly playing for the Jets in 2021!

Stay tuned for Nick’s first video update this week!

Senior Womens News

The Heathmont Women’s Football team continue to look forward to the time that they can get back to some sort of training, so they are ready for the 2021 season.

Senior Women’s Coach John Haynes says he is “extremely proud of this team who started in 2020 with a night dedicated to values and culture of the team, and who then continued to train even when the season was looking precarious until we were forced to stop because of the second COVID outbreak. We finished on a high though with an inspection of the magnificent new rooms, had a few pizzas, and watched the footy on the big screens”.

One of the main values that the Women’s team want to aspire to is the bolstering of the connectivity to the whole club including the Men’s Team, the Netballers, and the Junior team especially the Junior Girls team. We will be connecting to the under 18 girls’ team soon to welcome those girls who are eligible and willing to join our magnificent women in the pursuit of fun, friendship and success on the field.

The Women’s team was also well represented at the Zoom meeting to welcome our new Senior Men’s Coach Nick Rutley. The Women’s team were very impressed with Nick’s values and attitude to the football club, especially the shared value of being a strong club together. They were also excited by the fact that Nick had been involved in AFLW in the past and believe that he will be a great supporter of the women’s program at the club.

Finally, the Women’s team would like to acknowledge one of the founding members of the team - Ash Saunders - who has moved to Queensland this year. She has joined her local Women’s football team up in Queensland, and was able to play because of fewer restrictions in Queensland and has had some success. Well done and all the best for the future! The Women’s team is looking forward to catching up when we are able to get back on the track and focussing our energy for 2021. Go Jets!
